You can download and install the HotCommCL program any time you would like. Hotcomm provides a test site 24/7 so you can test anytime you like. You do not need to wait for an event or meeting to test the program however testing the connection to the 4x Los Angeles room does require that the room be open at the time you try.

Here's what you need to know (general info 1st, details and how-to below):

The program can be downloaded anytime from the HotComm web site. You will want the HotCommCL client program.

HotComm provides a test site 24/7 so you can confirm the program is installed correctly.

You should create a short-cut on your desktop to make accessing the program easier.

You will be sent an email with the monthly meeting or special event password.

It's that simple.
Now for the details. (from the hotComm web site)

Ok, so now you've gotten the software downloaded, installed, and tested, now it's short-cut time.

We'll be creating 2 short-cuts here. The 1st is for the 4x Los Angeles room and the 2nd is for the test room.

It's a couple of steps but follow closely and you'll be fine.

You can make a simple short-cut to the test or 4x Los Angeles meeting rooms as follows:

  1. Right-click anywhere on your desktop that is clear of icons then select: New, and short-cut.

  2. In the "Type the location of the item" field enter (or copy and paste): hotcomm://relay9:4xLosAngeles/ and click next.

  3. Enter whatever name you'd like to call it (such as: 4x Los Angeles Hotcomm) and click Finish.

Now just double click the new short-cut. If you've already gotten the password you can enter it when prompted. Remember: you can't get in to the room unless we have it open. This is not an error, just scheduling.

The procedure above can be used to create a shortcut to the hotComm Test room by using: hotcomm://relay:TEST/ instead and giving it a proper name..

Now just double click this new short-cut. I've found that the password may not be required.

The next thing you should hear will be Red Skelton's recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance sometimes a clock is also displayed. The test room is available 24/7 so enjoy.
