4X Los Angeles has a few different types of events:
- Special Events, One-time trainings or seminars with speakers from around the world who visit our group to deliver expert information in the areas of trading, strategies, and tactics for success in the 4X market. These events can either be live or via our online conferencing software.
- Live Meetings, usually held once a month on a Sunday evening beginning at 5:30pm. We say "usually" because sometimes it's a couple times a month. Be sure to check the Online Calendar.
- Tuesday online webinar sessions, Tuesday evenings starting at 8pm but held only via interactive online web-conferencing, (you must be a paid 4XLA subscriber) and only when we can fill the spot, so check the Online Calendar frequently
All of our sessions are always available via a live online webinar subscription. If you can't make it to the meetings or a special event in person, you can always attend online via our webinar room, a real-time desktop solution for interactive conferencing, collaboration, and content delivery. Visit our Webinar page to learn more about our online webinar delivery.

Live Meetings
Every month we meet in at Cal State Fullerton in Fullerton, CA, about 26 miles southeast of Los Angeles.
These meetings are a great way to meet popular Forex speakers, traders , trainers, and suppliers, not to
mention a great way to network with other local traders. The cost of the evening is minimal, just to cover
the rent of the room so come and meet and immerse yourself with a great bunch of people. All meetings
are held in the Gabrielino Room in the Titan Student Union beginning at 5:30pm Pacific Time.
We're working diligently on securing speakers for 2010 and as soon as we know who/when, we'll add it to the list below. We do have the room reserved monthly through 2010 so meetings will happen no matter what! Keep checking back regularly....this page is updated as speakers are set.

- Tim Chandler of 'Candles Don't Lie' method was our main speaker. He joined us live in the meeting room at Cal State Fullerton. Tim Chandler has followed a path familiar to most forex traders. A path of robots, ebooks and programs where every method he was sold on had shown initial success, but was always followed by method failure. Tim was just another “gonna be” trader who bought numerous systems and spent lots of time in trading rooms, and lost more money than he cares to mention. It was frustrating for him to discover that most of his teachers were unsuccessful traders to which he began spending much of his time (1000’s of hours by now) in front of his charts studying candle price action. What he figured out, he sums up in three simple words “Candles Don’t Lie.” Tim states that if you learn to read candles they always tell you where to get in and where to get out. Tim's time-tested method bears some intriguing characteristics:
- Effective on most any currency pair
- The simplest trading method he has ever used
- Uses absolutely no indicators
- Is traded using free charts
- A 1-to-1 risk to reward ratio (20 pip stop with average 20 pip limit)
- Occurs several times a session (it can be traded every market day)
- Exceptionally high success rate
Once Tim realized he had developed that “one” trade style (one effective style is all that is required), he began sharing it with all the traders he knew and Tim now heads an active market session trading room followed by a review of the day's trades each morning. Tim will be offering free access to allow our group members to view his trading method in action with typical performance results.
Learning a method of pinpointing trade entries and exits without the need or use of chart indicators is a valuable skill for any trader, period.

- Justin LaBlang from MB Trading was our main presenter, live in the meeting room at Cal State Fullerton. Justin gave us PowerPoint presentation on what MB has to offer to our group and all the changes they have made since last speaking with us. These are just some of the topics he discussed:
- They now have an MT4 to offer clients for both Demo and live trading.
- They have a education system called MB university that they offer their live clients.
- No dealing desk for direct ECN access
- Low commission rate to give the best spreads with the EUR/USD leading the group with spreads usually less than a pip
- Six different platform to trade the forex on, including web based and mobile
- Free weekly webinars for their clients with a research center available to them

- Mindy Rosenblatt and Evelyn Jacob shared with us a set of tools they've created to help traders gain mastery of Money Management: The Forex Trade Calculator and Forex Trade Log. These are NOT your grandmother's forex calculator and trade log. These tools were designed to be intuitive, easy to use, precise, powerful, and are highly customizable to fit a wide variety of trading styles. Mindy and Evelyn will demonstrate these tools and share videos they've created to help you analyze your own trading, find ways to increase your profit, and help reduce your losses without changing your current strategies.
They showed us Adaptive Positioning, one of the simplest and most under-utilized ways almost every trader can rapidly and easily increase their profit many-fold, without changing their trading style at all. In addition, they took us through the many features of the calculator and trade log: figuring lot size based on account equity, adding in bid and ask automatically, showing you progression options if you use advanced loss-recovery strategies, keeping the ultimate record of all of your trades, and seeing what your annual return can be based on your trading record and lots more.
You can catch a tour of the Forex Trade Calculator and the Forex Trade Log at www.forexSmartTools.com.

- Deb Donohoe. our 4XLA webmaster & sales rep for Hawkeye Traders, showed us something that she believes is THE most innovative indicator she's ever seen: Hawkeye Traders' "FATMAN". It's a strength meter. Now before you run screaming from your computer shrieking "NOT ANOTHER STRENGTH METER!!", ask yourself these simple questions: will your current strength meter help you work through your strategies as you look BACKWARD through your charts? Do any of the other strength meters you've seen along the way indicate a TREND for strength or weakness? If no, then
click here to see a powerpoint presentation at the Hawkeye website.
We also had David Karp who introduced us to Currensee, the first social network of forex traders. With Currensee, traders can collaborate using live trade data and can share trades and positions with their trading friends in real-time. Currensee is the way to trade together. Their mission is to bring trust and transparency to the Forex market by connecting real traders with real trades in real time. Like-minded traders can connect with each other and share unique ideas, insights and data based on the actual trading activity of the community.

Dick Schmidt talked about two scalping techniques - using our own 4XLA-developed MRN Trading Methodology - that have proved to be very fruitful. He walked us through two trading setups he's devised, giving back freely TO our group that which he received FROM our group. Dick is SUCCESSFULLY trading on a daily basis using the strategies he showed us this month. Dick has made his living with investments since about 1985, most of the time spent in pari-mutuel investing. He started trading commodities about five years ago and progressed to the S&P e-mini and then on to FOREX. Though, like all of us, he struggled at first, since finding MRN he has become a successful trader.

Larry Velardi prepared a slideshow which visually demonstrated 'the Power of Leveraging'.
Arnie Placencio, one of our own, presented a brief intro into his Stoch Scalping technique.

- Melissa Slade, of the NFA spoke to us via Hotcomm touching upon a couple of topics during her presentation. Specifically, she addressed the different kinds of tools that are available to traders to conduct their own "due diligence" research on any individuals/entities with whom they would like to conduct business. In addition, as most traders are aware, the CFTC is developing their regulations relating to Forex. She discussed questions they've received that surround the different registration categories (CTA/CPO/IB) including who is required to register in what capacity and the regulatory requirements that go along with these registration types. And, of course, she also answeres our questions about the NFA
.
Our own Tom Rogers, showed us how to usr our MT4 platforms as a timing mechanism to enter and exit the stock market. Even though we're a Forex group, it's important to have different financial options, espcially in today's market climate. Tom showed us how he uses a stock program in conjunction with his MT4 platform to time enttries for trading stocks.
- Sunday, October 11, 2009
- Robert Hill, (aka Mr. Pips) took us to the next level using Meta Trader's built-in Strategy Tester. He showed us how to use this testing and evaluation tool to optimize our indicators. What do we mean by optimize? Almost every indicator has multiple inputs you can plug in and use. He'll show us how to vary these inputs to get the best values to use with our indicators. Robert is the author of thousands of indicators and his knowledge of the MT4 platform is priceless. When Tom and Larry got to spend time with Robert at the Las Vegas show, there wasn't a single booth they visited that didn't know (and want to hire) Robert.

- For this Sunday's meeting, we had two speakers.
First was the "Larry and Tom Show", presented by Larry Velardi, Vice President of 4XLA and Tom Rogers, Co-Developers of the MRN system. Larry and Tom will presented their updates to the system. They've sought out the expertise of Robert Hill (one of the most sought-after MT4 programmers in the world) to refine some of the MT4 indicators of which MRN is comprised. The MRN System highlights strong and reliable setup conditions for trade entries and exits and has received very little modification since its launch over 12 months ago. It's time-tested and it's that good. And what's the pricetag? It's available free to anyone who requests it. With the MRN System, there's no need to stare at your monitor all day - just walk up when it alerts you to potential trade considerations via sound, popup, and/or cellular texting. The alerts are simultaneous with the up and down arrows on the chart. View the Aug. 12 to 14th MRN 1-hour timeframe GBP/JPY 511 pips chart by clicking here .
Our second presenter was Deb Donohoe, our webmaster (aka WebBabe), who presented a short 30 minute (approx.) follow-up of her more advanced usage of the MT4 Strategy Tester. She shared with us her most recent techniques on ramping up your Forex insight. Deb says her approach gives INSTANT feedback on why you have been missing trades.
.
- Sunday, July 19, 2009
- Larry Velardi and Tom Rogers once again showed us their MRN system (a suite of MT4 indicators they've combined which give very strong and reliable setups for trade entries and exits). This time, they also helped us put together a trading plan with all the parameters a trader should think through and checkoff prior to taking a trade. They shared spreadsheets, logs, and other planning items and made those availalbe to everyone in attendance, both live and via hotComm. Check the Meeting Archives page for the handouts .

- Deb Donohoe, our webmaster (aka WebBabe), showed us how we SHOULD have learned to trade the forex market: by using the Strategy Tester built-in to MetaTrader. She just discovered this resource a few months ago and is only just now realizing the impact it could have made on her trading. Why "could have"? Her words: "All these years, the industry betrayed me by telling me to open demo accounts and demo trade while you learn. WRONG. In order to learn, one has to KNOW what works. Waiting for demo trades to cook, hour after hour, day after month after year is not only the slowest way to see what works, it's also the worst way". Attend this session live or via hotcomm and let Deb show you the BEST way - the way you SHOULD have been using all along - to learn how to trade the 4X market on your own terms. She also had a special package containing an EA+scripts that will let you actually trade inside the simulator - no better way to learn to trade. Please visit the Meeting Archives page for the handouts.

- Due to end-of-year events at Cal State Fullerton, preferred dates for our normal mid-month meeting were unavailable. As a result, we had no guest speaker scheduled.
For this Sunday's meeting, Larry Velardi and Tom Rogers showed us their MT4 MRN setup. MRN is a suite of indicators they've combined which they believe give very strong and reliable setups for trade entrys and exits. We had a full evening's discussion of how this suite is used the boys even gave us a heads up about possible setups for the night and the coming week.
.
- Sunday, April 19, 2009
- Guest speaker: Jordan Roman, Forex Instructor from http://www.fishingforpips.com, showed us how to maximize our trades using price pivots applied to the MRN chart setup. Jordan is the main FOREX instructor for numerous education companies across the country and helps manage high net worth individuals' currency accounts. Fishing For Pips was created in association with Larry Velardi to support, educate and empower forex traders with the skills necessary to achieve both immediate and longterm goals.
- Trader Spotlight: Robert Hill, MT4 Programmer, discussed MetaTrader 4 methods that generate trading signals. Examples include the most recent which he works with manually, and has returned over 6000 pips so far this year on the GBPUSD with very little drawdown. Another is an EA for the method that currently shows over 3000 pips profit on the GBPUSD, trading 1 mini per trade generating a return of over $30K. Robert will also be sharing a free Expert Advisor that trades the GBPUSD daily and has had only 2 losing years since 2001. Robert Hill is reknowned in the MT4 community for his helpfulness and guidance in the effective usage and optimization of MT4 indicators and expert advisors..
